Lady de la Fontaine

Mont Orgueil, Gorey

This was the lady of the castle in 1484, during the reign of Richard III. Whilst her husband faught for the king, she had control and responsibility for the food and the servants and would have ensured that her children were taught to read and write and have good manners. In todays re-enactment she was displaying the remarkable skill of needlework. Re-enactment or not, this is lady de la Fontaine; not the one from 1484 but the same family line.

Canon EOS 1D Mark II ,Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
Harsh window light from the mid day sun and the darkness of the castle hall. There was not much image editing other than an effort to salvage some of the blown out highlights. Iso 400, F4, 1/60 using IS at 70mm. full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

another classic shot from you Kees, love the expression and superb details on her face. i wonder from which side you cropped away.the composition is unusual which i like in this shot even though she´s looking out of the frame and the darker part seems like dominating half of the frame.anyway a lovely capture.excellent details and exposure
