Cornucopia

My first sculpted cake. This started out as a sheet cake and turned into a lovely cornucopia. The chocolate fondant was cut into strips and woven like a pie-topper over the cake. The fruit is hand-formed marzipan and colored with an airbrush. The leaves are gumpaste and also colored with an airbrush.

Thanks for posting this pix. I am currently taking a cake decorating class and it is dealing with fondant and gum paste. I am looking for an idea of making a cornucopia with fondant for our Thanksgiving dinner, and your cake will be a perfect example! Though given only less than a week, I am not sure if I have enough time for both baking and making cake!

Thanks. Your portfolio is very lovely. I am inspired to bake a princess cake and Thomas the Tank Engine for my twins' 5th birthday.
