Ladies

You will notice that I take a realistic view towards this type of photography. We could take each woman's photo and smooth her skin to the point where you can't see one single hair follicle or pore, on her face, arms & legs.

We could change her eye colour, tuck in her tummy, remove freckles, and darken pale skin... but thats not what I'm trying to do here. We capture what is real. Airbrushing a model's photo until she looks smooth as a plastic doll is not realistic no matter how popular the practice; all magazines do it, Vogue, Teen, Seventeen, Glamour… Playboy has the gall to say they don’t “enhance” their models in any way (except in a pinch). That’s like Pop Star Michael Jackson saying that his face and hair is “natural” and his personality “normal”.

Aside from the occasional and obviously “painted” photograph, you won’t encounter fake or “plastic” looking models in this gallery. Mainstream Glamour Photography has gotten to the point where women don’t even look real any longer, and worse, we as a society have grown so accustomed to it that we see "it" (plastic doll like complexions) as ‘normal’. When I shoot a woman, I like to reveal the true woman that stood before the lens. I want you to see her true beauty. If I brush her freckles away, then I’m possibly implying that freckles aren’t beautiful and or that somehow by changing her natural look, that I’ve made her “better” or more “beautiful”. Such is contrary to what I want to capture and reveal to you, the viewer. Natural beauty to me is paramount. I believe that when a woman is truly able to take comfort in, and appreciate her natural beauty, she, at that moment, becomes immune to shallow social pressures and expectations. She becomes free.

Photography (like many undertakings) has its fair share of subjective rules; even so, we’ve broken every one.. and then some.

We shoot ladies who don't mind you seeing them for, well.. them. We shoot women who are a testament to what women today are all about.

Today's woman is about having kids, gaining weight, getting a promotion, sending a husband to war..being a widow at age 23, watching a 2-year-old gasp with anticipation when he hears the ice-cream truck; being depressed and taking prozac, having a college kid whistle at you from across the street, learning that your best friend in high school died from cancer, washing grass stains out of your 5 year old's pants.. and remembering just yesterday he was in diapers.. and knowing tomorrow he’ll be driving your car and dating girls and or.. boys..

Today's woman is about only having one car running this week, low on groceries, between paychecks, and finding a pair of teal coloured panties in the glove box of the family car.. and instantly feeling nauseated.. only to rejoice 7 agonizing hours later, when your 17 year old son admits to engaging in heavy petting the night before while using the family sedan.. then feeling ashamed when you realize that you actually thought about killing a husband, over a son's stupidity, unrestrained testosterone, and gross inconsideration. Today's woman is about acceptance, foregoing makeup and playing a game of kickball with the neighborhood brats. Today's woman is about not being embarrassed about who you are, or what you haven't done.... but accepting change, making a change, and being, and staying healthy. Pimples, bad skin, pale skin, blue black skin, cavities, piercings & tattoos... love, despair, unsure, spinning your wheels, burned out... loved by everyone but herself... Today's Woman. That’s what she is, who she is, and why she is. We’ve come to love all of them, for who they are. Know that she, today's woman, is about much more than rice cakes, yogurt, Betty Crocker, and makeup.

The crows feet on her eyes are from taking care of, and molding a career & family concurrently. The rug burns on her elbows are from playing with her 1 year old, despite a tiring full days work.. The carpet burns on her knees are from playing with her husband ;)

Next time you see such a woman… a real woman.. be sure to touch your hand to the brim of your hat and out of respect, cheerfully say “hello ma’am”.

The greater gallery and its sub galleries will feature a rich mixture of women, to include various professions, sizes, shapes, ethnicities, and a precocious dose of commentary. We encourage intelligent and respectful comments. If you've any questions, and or would like to be featured in our gallery please email.

Enjoy the gallery, respect the models and do come again.

Know that you are beautiful.
