Stan- I attended school in fourth and sixth grades at St. John's (Polish School) back in 1939 and 1941. Our nuns were all straight from Poland and they taught with proficiency and good discipline. We learned to respect all our elders and peers and to always thank God for his many gifts. Please don't get me wrong, I'm no religeous fanatic, but I do respect the truth. If only we could get back to those good old days when kids always said thank you or please or yes ma'am. We didn't dare respond with Yeah! Or any other such disrespectful blurb. Windber will always be precious to those of us who grew up there. It is Windber which prepaired me for the productive life I now can look back on, whether my time in the Navy in 1950-1954 or my many jobs serving the country during the ensuing years. To those youths who live in Windber now, make the best of what you have. Not every place is so beautiful or peaceful. Love your family and friends like they'll be gone tomorrow.
God bless America and God bless our troops.
