Sitka is a quiet little island that, unlike popular destinations in Alaska, does not have those lines of touristy shops. Kayaking, watching wildlife from the catamaran, beach trekking & even snorkeling (with a dry suit of course) was fun. I went hiking one day, shaking my keys fearing a bear encounter & wishing to see one at the same time. At one point, I was not sure which trail was the right way back. But this dog who was no longer following his owner ... showed me the way back !!
