Araucaria cunninghamii var glauca on Magnetic Island

A few shots taken Saturday 6th October.

The hoop pines on Magnetic Island (a few km offshore from Townsville, north Queensland) are now considered to comprise a distinct subspecies, known as A. cunninghamii var. glauca. The foliage is 'coralloid' and stiffly upswept, and the trees have a range of habits, sometimes adopting a flat top like some of the New Caledonian species.
