Grade I Listed C12th Century Church of the Holy Innocents,

Lamarsh,Essex,England,UK view map

Another rarity;Churches with round towers are very common in Suffolk and Norfolk, but rare elsewhere. This is in Essex, although,in fairness, only a short distance from the border with Suffolk.Another interesting point, the walls,on the inside, taper towards the top, giving the effect of bowing,or leaning outwards,as at Rickling. This church building was erected C1140AD and the dedication,to the Holy Innocents, makes this one of only five churches,so dedicated,in England. The Essex Spire was added to the tower in 1895AD.
