Although I stood there and took this image,its only now that I've seen the "face" on the lower half of the door.How curious is that?Its the latch.
NB:Although only a small church,all the ashlar stone would have to have been carried a huge distance,as there is no stone available in Essex.That's why the walls were made of flint rubble with only door surrounds,quoins and window surrounds in stone.
