My wife,Ann,and I were married in this church(no,it's not an abbey)on 26th.June 1982.This church,stood outside the abbey grounds,so ,that when the abbey was dismantled(it was the last one to go),this "Abbey church" wasn't destroyed.In the grounds is the grave of King Harold,the loser at The Battle of Hastings.He was the last Saxon King of England.I often wonder who was buried here in his name,as,after the battle,apparently,his fiancee couldn't identify his body.
