As you walk down (east) from the heights of Highshield Crags,where the wall is represented by a base layer,surmounted by a modern dry stone wall,the Wall ditch reappears as the berm infront of the Wall,increases.As you exit the trees,the Wall ditch becomes apparent,once more.In shot,it is the obvious steep sided ditch just infront of the Wall.The upcast from the Wall ditch, was laid on the northern side,in such a way,that the enemy could not hide behind the arisings, but be in plain view from the Wall walkway.
