Angkor Wat (Ta Prohm Temple) November 2006

Ta Prohm Temple was built by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. It was built in the Bayon style as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university. Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition in which it was found, with trees growing out of the ruins and the with jungle surroundings, making it, probably, the coolest looking (and one of the most popular) temples in all of Angkor Wat! Ta Prohm Temple was also made famous by the 2001 movie “Lara Croft - Tomb Raider” which was filmed there and which starred Angelina Jolie.

From these architectual details, Ta Prohm Temple was obviously once a beautiful temple.
