The Birth

While visiting the Whaler's Cove area of Point Lobos, I was fortunate enough to just
catch the birth of a seal pup, looking down to the beach below the road I was standing on.
Early April is pupping season here and there are many harbor seals that have hauled out
of the water onto the beaches and rocks to give birth to their pups.

Before what I heard had been many hours previous to my arrival that day, a very pregnant
harbor seal had been rolling around the beach and making odd noises. Obviously she had been in labor.

Here is a short photo series of the actual birth, something I was thrilled to witness, and photograph.

I think it's time!
