Sri Thirumalai AnanthAzvAn Celebrations At ThriumalA.

Thirumalai AnanthAzvAn undertook to settle down at ThriumalA and perform kainkaryam there to ThriuvEnkatamudaiyAn at the behest of Sri RamAnujA.

ThirumAla was then, a dense forest with snakes and wild animals roaming freely. Observing his courage, EmperumAnAr tilted him as 'AN piLLai' and he came to be known as
Thirumalai AnanthAn piLLai.

As is known the relentless kainkaryam sri AnanthAn piLLai rendered to ThiruvEnkatamudaiyAn made EmpeurmAn to appear him before a boy and play with him. It is said that the Lord used to have converstation with him.
The crow bar which Sri AnanthAzvAn used is still placed near the temple entrance.

ThiruvEnkatamuDaiyAn visits Sri AnanthAzvAn thOttam two days in a year. One on the ThriuvAdip pUranm day and one at the fag end of the brahmOtsavam. On this day EmperumAn goes anticlockwise -bAk savAri.

The 954th Thriunakshathiram of Sri Thriumalai AnanthAzvAn was celebrted in a befitting manner at Thriumala.

This is being celebrated for fifth year in a row.

The AnanthAzvAn clan are taking great efforts in orgnaizing this celebration year after year.Sri TAp RangAchAri, Sri TAP kASthuri,Sri TAP Govinda SVAmi, Sri TAP kASthuri sVami and all the people from the families deserve special mention.The TTD officials support this in a great manner.

To arrange anything in ThirumalA is not an ordinary task. Things have to be moved from to ThirumAla right from groceries to all and sundries.

Special efforts were made to invite various exponents of aruLicheyal chanting from variosu divya desam-s namely ThiruvallikkEANI, Sri perumbUdhur, kAnchipuram, Sri Rangam, Sri Villiputhur, Madurai, mEalkoTe whose presence made the grand celebrations possible.

UpanyAsakAs from various places graced the occasion including Sri K B Devarajan svami, Sri ThirukOshtiYur MAdhavan SVami, Sri AkkArak kani Sri Nidhi sVAmi, Sri E S Sriram Svami.

Special mention have to be made of Sri KaNNAmani svAmi, Sri TA Bakthi SAran, Sri MA VenkatakrishNan svami whose efforts made this all possible.

The contributions from the family, trusts and individuals made this all possible.

The presence and support of Sri Peirya JEyar svAmi and Sri Chinna JEyar svami cannot be summarised in words.

Sri Embar Jeyar svami of Sri PerumbHUdhUr and Sri VaradHa YethirAja Jeyar svAmi of Sri PerumBudhur graced the occasion.

Arulich cheyal chanting commenced at 5 am on 2.3.08 select pasuram-s mostly relating to ThriuvEnaktamudaiyAn were chanted from iyaRpA, mudhal Ayiram and Periya Thirumozhi.

Thiruvaimozhi, irAmanusa NUTRandhAdhi and upadEsa RethinamAlai was chanted completely.

Release of book by TTD officals with the blessings of JEyar svami on Sri AnanthAzvAn, on various languages was highlight this year.

The rendition of ThiruvAimozhi in a clear and gradual manner was indeed very pleasing.

The JEyar svami, upanyAsakas and the adhyApakars were honoured with due respects.


Let us hope this great kainkaryam continues year on year basis.
