This would have been a wonderful portrait if you were able to hold detail in the highlights. You can easily solve burn-out problems by using your "spot" metering mode instead of your "center weighted" mode. Just focus and expose the spot metering target area on the brightest spot of the image, Suzy -- in this case the side of his face and head -- and you will expose the scene to hold detail in that area, instead of losing it. The rest of the image would get a bit darker, which would have increased the drama of the lighting here.
