Northen Thailand is full of beautiful people of different hill tribes. These are the people I encountered while on my backpacking/learning photography trip in January/February 2006.

Thank you for your comment, I did speakke to all my long neck Karen friends, in my native Thai, about their circumstances, history, and current situation. I am very aware of how restricted their lives are and many of them felt as if they were just zoo animals for tourists to come in, take their photos and leave. I also spent some time speaking with the head of the village chief, who educated me the same information as your received. (He invited me along to take photos of these ladies where he will use their pictures for a cd cover.) It is a very unfortunate situation where they are at right now we must be very respectful when taking their photos, I am very glad you also took the time to listen to their stories and not just snapping away photos for memory sake.

Excellent gallery, you have some superb images here,but things are not as happy as they look,talk to the younger girls and you will find that they are being prevented from leaving by the Thai government.They are too big a tourist assest.Many have applied and received visas to live abroad but their government will not let them leave.As a protest many of the young girls are removing their rings.V

Its easy to go to the hill tribes and take interesting photos...but you have produced a wonderful, artistic record of their closeness to each other and, each one is a stand alone exemplar of your craft...well done. KMc
