Yvonne may be right about this being a red-shouldered instead of a Cooper's. These hawks are tough. If you ever find out for sure what it is let us know!
Here, you can clearly see the red patches that form his "red-shouldered" epaulets! Another thing about this species is they are NOISY! They never shut up their kee-ying, especially in flight.
