E is for Elk Bull

Elk bull resting in a meadow near Canyon Junction in Yellowstone.
Only male elk grow antlers and they are shed every year.
Antler size is indicative of the nutrition consumed that season.
Elk "points" are counted by the number of tines on an antler.
This six point bull is considered a trophy elk.
