My tribute to my mother
.
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you,
and whispered, "come to me."

You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best

And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
I could not wish you back
To suffer that again.

For the last 7years, mom struggled with breast cancer and osteoporosis . Though the breast cancer was treated with oral chemo and bone strengthener, it spread to her back bones and lungs. By late, January, another mass had been detected in the spine but mom refuse the biopsy, she had enough needles testing, MRI and Xrays.

Mom spent about a year at Hidden Meadows 2010 when she couldn't stay in her house, and then went to The Telford Lutheran Home in Feb., 2011. It was then, I could see the rapid changes in the following weeks.

On March 19th mom went to the ER and was told she had 24 hours to live if she didn't have surgery. Mom said no surgery but was determined to go one more week where by Tuesday and Wednesday she perked up, could talk and have clear liquids. Oh how she liked that chicken broth soup and ginger ale. Only complaint was there was no chicken. I noticed by Thursday, she was getting restless and for the third time, her pain meds were increased from .2 to .5.

Friday morning, when I went in, I heard the nurse asked mom if I was coming and she said she didn't know.
I think she knew this would be the last day of her alertness. I was told it was just a matter of time.
It was 2pm when I went home, that she went into a sleep and didn't respond after that.

When I came back at Friday 7pm until the next morning, I read to her from the bible and at 5:20am I told her God loved her, her children loved her and to go in peace. This last time, I think she heard me and took her last breath at 5:20am.

A few of my memories of my mother.

Gardening was Mom's passion, she always loved flowers, fruit and vegetable gardening.
I can remember her outside hours weeding and mulshing the flowers.
She made alot of annual canning and freezing for the Winter including batches of grape jelly.

Being healthy, mom always tried to eat healthy, making all her meals with lots of vegetables,
not buying any processed food. I can remember her making her homemade noodles from scratch
and rolling out the noodles. She loved to make raisin bread and white bread from scratch too.
To this day, I can remember her stirring Porridge on school days and still, I don't like it cause I had to sit and eat it all up
if I wanted to go to school.

Mom loved to go up to the senior center in Souderton and do line dancing and later she joined
ball room dancing. Dancing was her fun excercise until she had a bad fall and fractured her bottom back bone.

Family life was her joy- she enjoyed all the grandkids and though she didn't see them often, she was happy to
see pictures and know of their progress. She watched my children from birth until elementary age, until she couldn't
see very well, and had to stop driving.

Mom always enjoyed being with her sister Jean and her family. Jean always brought her homemade bread, dinners and cookies when mom couldn't cook for herself. I know she loved and looked forward to those holiday dinners with Debby and Danny. And enjoyed going to the firemen Church dinners. Turkey and Oysters dinners were her favorite.

When I finally got married, I know mom was happy, she always said that Mark was a good man and father to
our kids. Again, mother's are always right.

I would like to think of mom is in a better place after suffering many months of back pain and cancer.

Mom made a circle, being raised on their family Farm on Deep Run Road, walking to Deep Run West as a child and getting baptized there in 1950, later confirmed as a Lutheran in 1955 at the Naval base in Va.. She served in mission work for over 17 years overseas and finally back to Levittown in 1974.

Finally laying to rest at Deep Run East, she always said Bucks County was the best place to live.

We will all miss you mom and may you rest in peace, in God's will.
