Every Easter Friday Benque rolls out the "alformbras" (saw dust carpets) for the funeral procession bringing an end to the week long Easter celebration. The whole community especially the younger members of the community start this beautiful art work at the crack of dawn. There is an elaborate two and a half hour long Passion Drama that is played out through the streets of Benque in the mid morning. A somber three hour funeral procession follows the “alfombra” covered streets at night. This uniquely Benque celebration is worth witnessing in person.
