The new big chip camera arrived safe and sound. This new bigger chip provides a 1.65deg X 1.65deg field of view at an image scale of 1.4"/pixel with the Starfire, and it is more sensitive than the previous ProLine11002.

This camera features a Kodak KAF-16803 Full Frame Front Illuminated Sensor with a 4096 X 4096pixel 37mm X 37mm array at 9 microns and a peak QE of 60% at 550nm.

Some features of the FLI ProLine 16803 include: 60%QE at 550nm, high dynamic range, ultra accurate sensor placement, six-leaf shutter, fast download (just 4sec at 8Mhz for full frame 16.8mega pixels) triple TEC bullet-proof cooling providing 58C below ambient chip temperature, ultra high transmission window (better than 99.7% transmission!), internal frame buffer and high quality machining. The image sensor is aligned perpendicular to the optical path without any post-assembly adjustments, insuring that the entire frame is in focus.
