World's Strongest Astronomer?

Lifting a 153kg (340lb) stone - I've lifted as heavy as a 175kg stone to my shoulder
and then carried it there for a distance of 40m :-)

I also set a World Record in 2001 when I lifted, and then carried,
2 X 160kg oxy cylinders (one in each hand, suitcase style) a distance of 51m or
nearly 170ft! That's the equivalent of lifting and carrying a Yamaha YZF 600cc
motorbike in each hand! :-)

Ah sadly those days are past, now that I sit on my arse most of time
staring into space and hardly sleeping!

other sizes: small medium original auto

Let us propose the "Sidonio Criterion": for any given astronomer, the telescope aperture equal to the diameter of the largest stone he can lift to his shoulder and carry 40m. With a Meade 16" LX200, I'm afraid I have exceeded mine by a considerable margin.

Mike, that stone on your sholder is how big my nuts would be down in my shoes if I tried to lift something that heavy. Gotta admit, you da man! Don Loftus, Gainesville, Fl
