11/21/2012 - Around 2300 hours on the pre-Thanksgiving evening of Wednesday, November 21, 2012 the Whitman Fire and Police Departments responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at the corner of South Avenue and Day Street. Companies arrived to find a teenage driver that some how lost control of their vehicle and collided with 83 South Avenue, which is home to Kirby Insurance Company. The driver was out of the vehicle when the emergency crews arrived and was not injured. The building, electrical, and gas inspectors were requested to the scene to survey the damage to the building. National Grid natural gas division also responded to cut the gas to the building. After the car was removed from the scene a board-up company secured the building. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. The Plymouth County Sheriffs Department BCI Unit also responded to assist.
