07/02/2012 - BROCKTON, MASSACHUSETTS (PLYMOUTH COUNTY) - On the hot and humid afternoon of Monday, July 2, 2012 the Brockton Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from the roof at 43 Hopkins Road, off of East Street. Around 1730 hours, companies arrived to find light smoke showing from a one-story wood framed occupied dwelling. Companies entered the home to find a fire in the attic area. Ladder-2 opened up the roof so firefighters would have better access to the area on fire. Two lines were stretcher, and one line was used in extinguishing the fire. Crews quickly knocked down the fire, and worked on-scene overhauling and checking for extension. There were not believed to be any injuries, and it was unclear is anyone was home at the time of the fire. The Brockton Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of the blaze.
