02/18/2014 - Around 1100 hours on the morning of Tuesday, February 18, 2014 the North Attleboro Fire Department responded to a report of a partial building collapse in a building under construction at 153 East Washington Street, Route-1. Once crews arrived and assessed the situation the officer in charge requested building inspectors and the Bristol County Technical Rescue Team to the scene to assist in stabilizing the building that was in danger of collapse. The Bristol County Technical Rescue Team then requested the structural collapse unit from the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team that is housed in Bridgewater. A small support crew of firefighters from Bridgewater and Hanson responded with the structural collapse unit. Supporting struts were placed on the interior of the structure in the area that was compromised structurally. Lumber was brought in to assist in making the building safe. The cause of the collapse is under investigation, though recent construction at the building and recent snowfall accumulated on the roof may have been factors. A North Attleboro Rescue was on stand-by, but no injuries were reported.
