01/19/2015 - WHITMAN, MASSACHUSETTS (PLYMOUTH COUNTY) - At 2350 hours on the evening of Monday, January 19, 2015, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Whitman Fire and Police Departments responded to a reported head-on collision in the area of 366 Washington Street. Whitman Ambulance-247, Ambulance-248, Engine-2, and Car-3 responded. Companies arrived to find a two vehicle head-on collision. Paramedics attended to one injured victim that was apparently driving a vehicle when it veered into the oncoming traffic lane, striking another vehicle that was attempting to avoid it. That victim was immobilized on a spine board and loaded into the ambulance. That victim was transported to the South Shore Hospital with advanced life support measures being utilized. A trauma alert was called into the South Shore Hospital. The exact extent of the injuries were not known. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the accident is under the investigation of the Whitman Police. The Plymouth County Sheriffs Department BCI unit responded to the scene for pictures.
