This is our final shot for publication and sale. This was a composite of three shots, taken back to back without moving the camera. My Canon 7D was riding piggyback on top of my Celestron C8 telescope. Shot 1 had the telescope drive on to capture the milky way. Shot 2 was with the telescope drive turned off to capture the house and terrestrial scenery. Shot three was made after removing a temporary shield from the Coast Guard light (which is the bright blazing light at the bottom right). Shots 1 and 2 were 200 seconds long (ISO 2000) and shot 3 was 30 seconds. All three shots were then blended using Photoshop CS5. The composite captures the beauty of the milky way from a very dark location, as well as the historic beauty of one of Lake Superior's best light houses.
