Cahaba Lily (Hymenocallis coronaria)

Cahaba River (Central Alabama)

From early May to late June, the shoals of the Cahaba River are transformed into a showcase of floral delight as the rare Cahaba Lily blooms. Found only in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina; the Cahaba Lily requires swift current and direct sunlight to flourish.

I have these lilies planted in large pots in my yard in South Carolina....they were given to me several years ago when a friend was cleaning her garden and had too many bulbs. She said she didnt know the name of them so I have never known the name until the other day when I was behind a car with a special "protect the cahaba lily" tag on the back of their car. I recognized the picture and came home to look up info on the Cahaba Lily. I have wondered for years what type of lily they were...they are BEAUTIFUL!!

Will the Coroniaria survived in a large pot? in Fla. AND where can I purchase a bulb or two? This is my greatest desire. I used to be in B'ham near the Cahaba River. Thank you.
