Beautiful. I love the black and white -- everything. Wonderful clarity in this; even his expression.

The high contrast works for me. Do you have it printed and framed ? I would. John(ebones)

Ted, this is a classic. Nice conversion from the original.

Nice shot - I like the black/white conversion. Great expression on his face - looks like a lot of fun!

It is a single, authentic photo. As I stated in the comment below it was of a very low contrast. What I did in postprocessing is:duplicated the image as layers.Erased the boy from the top layer and adjusted the contrast, levels, colours etc separately in both layers. I merged them back. This is a common technique. If the merge is not smooth it may look like photo montage. I will post undedited version of it once the challenge is over on STF.

Looking CAREFULLY at the image reveals that it's a photo montage. Am I correct?

It really is a GREAT timeless shot. I like the choice you made Ted, in the black-and-white, almost a sepia action. You must be enjoying the end of the your summer right now.

MFC, it was a very low contrast scene/situation (clouds, overcast, brown-green water etc) but otherwise good "action". I had to do a dramatic b&w conversion or give up on the shot.

Ted, I really like how you captured this boy...swinging out over the water with such a gleeful smile. Nice comp/crop. The way you darkened the water to leave only small amounts of bright, reflective ripple really adds artistry, contrast, and simplicity to the shot...it makes your subject even more eye-catching. MFC

Ted, great image !!! A timeless shot that could have been taken at any Aussie watering hole. David
