2nd Place Lightning Towers by James Langford

©2002 James Langford

Pano shot in Richardson, Texas. I created the pano out of 10 shots that did not include the lightning. The lightning shot was taken shortly before the pano shots at the same Exposure and Focal Length. The lightning shot was blended in to create the pano.

This is one of my absolutely favorite images of all time. Perhaps I'm biased, being a local and all, but even beyond the Galatyn Park perspective, I can't imagine something more amazing in the weather. It's been a true inspiration.

Hi All,

Thanks for the comments. :) I really appreciate them.

I was shooting lightning and got a great shot with the two towers in it. I then decided it would be cool to make a pano and add in that lightning shot, so I took 10 shots to make the pano at the same settings as the lightning shot was taken. In MGI Photovista, I created the pano using the 10 shots without the lightning shot. I then used Jasc PSP with layers to blend in the lightning shot. I also had to add a dark blue colored layer using Dodge Opacity in order to get the skies to match up. I finished it off with some cloning to clean up the edges of the blended lightning shot.

Cool, I really like the building on the far right. The lightning helps add to a empty sky
