Intent on the Details

Ankara, Turkey

OK, I admit it, I was bored... My dog Tilki and I were waiting in the car for my husband to come out of the embassy. Tilki adores him and refused to take her eyes off the front door in anticipation of his return; she also refused to get off of my lap and out of my face, so I couldn't help but notice how detailed she was at that range, especially with the late-afternoon sun hitting her. So I pulled out my camera and started shooting, although from a bit of an awkward position.

Andy, Tilki is a German Spitz, as near as we can tell. We found her wandering the streets of Ankara six years ago, obviously abandoned by her humans as she understood commands in Turkish and first immediately jumped into our car and then into bed with us. After leading a life of luxury for three years in Okinawa during which time she had her own personal maid and guards, she is now back home in Turkey (and remembers how to eat from the garbage piled on the street) and is tri-lingual, understanding Turkish, Japanese and English. Her name means "fox" in Turkish, and she is the only dog I know who has physically circled the globe. (That was a long answer, sorry!) Helen

The background really brings out the details of the dog with complimentary colors. Excellent. -Floating_Fotoman

Hiya Bobby, I know that the only thing going thru her head was "When is Daddy coming back???" She can't stand it when the three of us aren't together, and she especially hates it when my husband is gone (me she doesn't care so much about). She didn't take her eyes off the door until he came out. Helen

Great photo - there's a lot of detail in the dog's face - her coat looks so soft and pretty!
