Thanks, Melanie. Like the other drop photo, I positioned a feather/drop on black construction paper. I positioned the camera on a tripod as close as possible to the drop and "locked-in" to a composition ... I also used a cable release. The adjustments/trials I made were to continually flex the neck of my halogen desk lamp to get a variety of different lighting effects/shots. I then kept shooting both of these many times & chose the ones I liked best. Experimenting with the manual settings(by keeping f/8.0 constant & varying the speed) also helped change the amount of light/shadow distant to the main subject. That's about it. MFC
