1st Place Winner!
Let's Jump
by Mark J

Two dolphins playing together out in the ocean,
without a care in the world :-)

BTW, this is not a composite image. I know this
will never happen again in my lifetime but, I
cherish the moment every time I look at the image :-)

Thank ALL of you for your kind words and comments regarding this image. I would first like to say, that this will probably never happen to me again, in this lifetime anyway :-)

This is NOT a composite, lest you believe I actually painted all those (seamingly) millions of water splash trails... everywhere. I did however clone OUT some water splashes that had reached as far as the dolphins top fin, making for a distraction I did not enjoy. This is just one of those in the right place at the right time. What you don't know, is that I tried to capture these guys probably 15 times BEFORE this shot and, failed on every one of those attempts. Naturally, I don't really know if they are the same dolphins I missed the first 15 times but, who cares... they are dolphins, they are marvelous creatures, and I had fun and got wet.

Great shot. The sun looks curiously small... How in the world did you have time to focus for this?

What a beautiful image, Mark! I'm especially impressed because I tried to photograph a dolphin a few days ago, and didn't capture a single image - just lots of water. I hope you've framed this one - it's a winner! Bev

Boy were you in the right place at the right time! And with the skill and talent to take advantage of the moment. Good for you Mark. This is exquisite. It reminds me of some of the dolphin fantasy paintings I've seen. It's like they are flying in the sunset. Awesome. Ann C

Thank you all for your encouraging comments. Howard, are you referring to the dolphin photographer named Talbot? (does other sea life also). Sorry I posted such a small version of this image. I hope some day you'll see it nice and large somewhere like maybe... Times Square ? LOL Mark J

Oh ... my ... God! Absolutely fantastic. Very reminiscent of that popular dolphin photographer whose name I can't think of at the moment (and I even have a framed print). This is truly amazing. --Howard

Stunning, you're one lucky guy, I mean to see this, no luck with the picture, we all know how good your are, doesn't get any better than this :]

spectacular, Mark -- something i'm sure most of us dream of capturing, and you did a great job!

Very nice capture of this moment...couldn't have asked for a better background. I like the sense of motion supplied by the dripping water. Good one. MFC

Nice composite, the dolphins seem a bit high in the water though, considering the poor light and the direction it is coming from its not bad, although the water seems a bit on the clear side and perhaps needs a little color.

Astounding... man, that is one lucky moment to capture so well. Has this image made you any money/fame yet? V.surprised if it hasn't. - Simon Bennett

lol, why not add a killer whale going after them, too. ;-) This is a great composite, Mark. Absolutely striking at the thumbnail size (full too but the thumbnail really catches your eye).
