Honey Bee hive. I've passed this spot everyday for the past couple of weeks with no hint of these bees. Don't know if they are coming or going. Mile 18S

The round object the bees are crawling on looks like it could be very old iron, like a cannon ball. More than likely it's just a rock that the tree has grown around.

When I was a young boy myself and a couple of my friends had an encounter with a bee hive that was moving. We were playing baseball in an open field when we heard bees, thousands of bees. There was a cloud of them coming right for us. It covered the whole field and there was no where for us to run to get out of the way. Luckily the bottom of the cloud was about three feet off the ground. We laid down and the swarm flew right over us and no one got stung.
