December 9 to 15, 5 full days for shooting in Bosque del Apache. This is the 5th year for me and the bird count of this year was a lot lower than previous years. This is the first year that I came home without a shot of the coyotes and deers. If there was any advantage to visit Bosque in December, I did not have to get up until 5 am (instead of 4 am in November) and NO MOSQUITO !!.
Get a 7D with 400mm lens, you will be at the same distance as Mr. Lau. My wife uses this set up and it brings great results. I have the same stuff as Mr. Lau, and I can't say my pictures are much better.
Sir, your pictures are top class. Most of the people do not understand what you need to capture out there. You do.

I like your work. I spend about a day a week at the bosque del apache photographing birds, and I have some good shots from 3-4 years. I use a Nikon D70 with 70-300 zoom. I want something better. I saw what you shoot with. Any recommendations? Price is a factor, maybe. I see people with lenses with big lens hoods. I like the photos with birds full size.
Also, about how many shots do you take? I usually sit and wait a long time till I get the shot.
