It was made in 643 A.D. There are certain national treasures in the temple. Attached to the temple is a pagoda, thought to be built about 7 years after the temple itself. In the top of the pagoda is certain Buddhist relics including the cremated remains of monks and religious bracelects and some books and so on.
There is a legend about a Buddhist monk who traveled to China to meditate. On his return to Korea he was passing though the west sea and he met the Hing of the West Sea ( Kind of a God ). The Sea King was touched by the monks faith and gave the monk " Agants ". The monk used this rock to build the Pagoda.
A long time ago fresh water fish " Salmon trout " used to live in Jeong Am Temple. The fish lived in cold fresh water and was nocturnal but can no longer be found in there.
Just on the night side of Jeong Am Temple is Mt. Ham Baek. There is a 3 hours hiking trail there that many people enjoy. On the mountain are you here and white birches.
