Owls of Ile Bizard

I was fortuneate enough to be living in Montreal the winter of 2004/2005. We had many Great Gray owls stop off at an area called Ile Bizard which is just off of the Island of Montreal. They are very approachable and one can sit and stare at them for a long time. They provided a great opportunity for many photographers, myself included. Me and my shooting buddy Ian spent many a weekend (and truth beknown a few working hours) out in this area shooting these wonderful and graceful birds.

All images here are taken in their natural habitat without the aid of any baiting. It was disappointing to see some photographers come a long way to photograph these birds only to see them use a variety of baiting techniques to try and get "their" shot.
