In her book, "A natural History of the Senses", poet Diane Ackerman wrote, "Because the eye loves novelty and can get used to almost any scene.... much of life can drift into the vague background of our attention. Art has a habit of waking us up, turning on the lights, grabbing us by the collar and saying 'Would you please pay attention?'"
In my photography I strive to "Turn on the lights"...... Sometimes it works.
Mr. Pollock's photos are magnificent works of art, worthy of inclusion in any of the world's best museums and art gallaries. Of course, I have to say that since he's my brother.
This is a great quote! I absolutely adore Diane Ackerman's writing... I have read quite a bit of her nature writing. Sometimes she is downright hilarious (look for the piece on the blue whale). Now let me go and enjoy your galleries...
