Murree's famous Mall Road

Murree, Pakistan

Murree's Mall Road is small stretch of road that is closed to
vehicular traffic, and is dotted with lots of varied shopping
stores and restaurants. During the peak tourist season in the
summer months this little stretch of road gets so jam packed
with throngs of people.

No visit to Murree is complete without at least a brief visit
to Mall Road.

This image brings back to my memories of child hood. What a place it was, but pity what it seems nowadays. Its all gone, the beautiful sights are littered with flats, trees gone, markets littored with people but no buyers. What a shame. We really have to do something to SAVE Murree, My beautiful Home Town.

Thank you so much for sharing your photos.
I lived in Murree for parts of several years in late 1950's, early 1960's, Was able to recognize the location in "always raining," but not the Mall Road photos. The city and the country that was around it was v. beautiful. I hear, and can see, that it is much more built up now.
Just seeing the salwar kameeze takes me back. I'm a bit homesick!

One feels pity for the present status of the Mall, Murree. where that romantic Murree has gone?
