This is an okay town. The main section is renovated very nicely, and the surrounding town is quite nice too. Hotels are expensive, as are the restaurants, but you can self cater and get by okay. It was cold, and we had a nice snowstorm, which I liked. I also hired a car to go to Davit Goreja Monastery, which I have very badly misspelled, I am sure. It was spectacular and well worth the expense.
Sucker for a windblown, frozen street sign.
Signahi, early morning light.
In the renovated town
Got a nice little dusting of snow the day I got there.

Hired a car to take me to the Davit Gareja monastery. Fantastic scenery.
Like driving on Mars.
The monasteriy itself is mostly off limits, but you can get some lovely photos
They dug their monasteries into mountains as protection against the constantly invading Persians.
You can climb the mountain the monastery is dug into and get some nice views.
This is looking toward the border with Azerbaijan.
