Savannakhet

This is a nice Mekong town. After the anonymity of Tha Kaek, there were a lot of tourists here. The hotels I looked at down by the Mekong in the old part of town were pretty rough. Bad mattresses, India-quality AC units. And fairly expensive, at like 10 dollars a night. So I went out and stayed at a luxurious place out in the new part of town.

I really liked it here and had some amazing meals down on the Mekong, at one of the many high end restaurants floating in the river, catering to the hordes who cross over the bridge from Thailand for cheap booze and smokes.
