Nairobi and Douala

I was in Nairobi for all of 10 hours or so. And in Douala for a miserable three days. Not many photos. In Nairobi we only went to the leafy, expat suburbs, where we saw the lives of the Karen Cowboys, as the white settler community is dismissively known. I will say this: it is one of the wealthiest places I've ever seen. Looked like some of the best parts of Westchester County, in fact. Douala was a classic shithole. Madness, horrible traffic. It's a city of 1.7 million according to my guide book but this is apparently only one road into it from the north, and this is the road that goes past the bus stand and this road is the worst road I have ever been on in my life. The road to the airport is a perfectly fine standard sort of divided highway so they Cameroonians are capable of constructing such roads, but why we had to arrive via the bus stand from the north I will never understand. Even if the road wasn't under construction, wouldn't you think a city of 1.7 million needs more than ONE ROAD to get into it from the north?
