Madurai

I was in Madurai, this time, for about 14 hours. Sort of a last minute addition to my five day tour of south India. I arrived about 2, the sun went down at 6. I got up at 7 and frantically photographed and then left town at 9:30. Sad. I LOVE Madurai. A great city. The big attraction is the Sri Meenakshi temple, a place I love. Non-Hindus welcome and made to feel quite at home. Very friendly locals will stop and welcome you and, often, ask to be photographed standing next to you. I actually had a small line of Indians waiting to be photographed with me. It's an amazing place and if you go to South India do NOT miss Madurai.
