This town is at the southern tip of India, where, as you will be told repeatedly, "three oceans" meet. This of course depends on how you define "ocean." What "meets" there are the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and . . . what else? Something else. If, like me, a rigid post-modernist who believes nearly everything is an arbitrary social construction, particularly lines drawn on maps, and particularly lines drawn on maps that seek to distinguish one body of water from another . . . the syntax of this sentence has completely spiraled out of control.
Kanyakumari is at the southern tip of India. There is a large beach and a couple of temples out in the water. The line to get onto the boat to be taken to the temple to stand in another line seemed to this lazy American as far too long and I was much more interested in photographing the fishing villages surrounding what is, in reality, a small tourist town not really worth visiting, in my opinion.
