You never know who will pick you up when you are hitch-hiking.
Standing on the side of the road in front of the Julian, California
Post Office, waving a banner that read, "PCT Hiker to Trail", I was
pleasantly surprised when this delightful young man, spun his car
around and gave Monte and I a lift back to the trail at Scissors
Crossing, some 12 miles down the road.

It turns out, that young Jonathon Collins at this date, was ranked number
11 nationwide in the Decathlon, and was preparing to head to the Olympic
Trials. Best wishes to you Jonathon!!!
