This photo was taken from the land.... at the Viewing point
designated by the Park Service... everything beyond this point was
roped off and public access was prohibited...

If you look very carefully, just off shore, beneath the gigantic
steam plume, you will see a tiny boat.... this is a Lava Boat.
I went out on this boat on the next day, and the views and sensations
from that very very close proximity were amazing and awe inspiring,
to say the least.
