Laos, from Golden Triangle to Vientiane

These photos were taken: 1) on the dirt road from Ban Kuan to Houay Xai, 2) along the Mekong river between Houay Xai and Luang Prabang, and 3) from Luang Prabang to VangVieng and Vientiane along route 13. All Lao trip images were taken with the Nikon D1H using a 17-35 zoom lens.

Wonderful gallery Seng..I have spent a total of 6 months in Laos these last 18 months visting with my partner who is an Australian aid worker in Laos..I have fallen in love with the country,,its people and the culture..I'm heading back there in mid 2007.. I also have galleries of Laos in pbase..

i travelled through laos, staying in vang vieng, luan prabang, pakbeng and your shots make me want to go back. unfortuantly I only had an APS camera, truly gutted as it is some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen. fantastic gallery

Seeing how much better your work is than so many other pbase contributors, I am afraid I'll have to find money for one of those wide-angle zooms (which of course, because of the optics, keep almost everything sharp). A brilliant choice of equipment, used with tremendous photographic insight. Keep going.

Beautiful pictures. I didn't make it to Laos when I travelled around SE Asia but having seen your photos, I wish I had. Next time, maybe. "Morning mist over VangVieng, Laos" is a stunning photo.

Wonderfully entertaining gallery and overview of Laos. The wide angle lens does so well with these compositions and presentations. Your camera is digital isn't it, and has the same magnification factor as the Canon D60 that I use. Great for the long end, not so great for wide angle. Viewing this portfolio has convinced me to get the 16-28mm offered by Canon. But it all comes down to your great eye. These photos are well seen and composed. Technically good and artistically pleasing. Where's your next trip going to be?
