Oct. 5, 2004 - Stairwell

Ann Arbor, Mich.

I took several shots last week of my daughter Jessica in the stairwell of a downtown parking garage
on the same night I did the series of alley shots, but I had dismissed the photos until I took a second
look and decided I liked the lines.

great play of light and lines, you are lucky to have such a fantastic model.

Very graphic and grabbing. Your daughter ought to be a model. Oh, wait... :)

Nice shot -- the b/w treatment works well here. I didn't notice Jessica in the thumbnail either!

Wow, Alissa gave quite a cogent analysis. Did she mention Jessica is always gorgeous?? :)

Great shot, with that same grit to be found in your alleyway gallery.

I'm glad I looked at this other than the thumbnail.. i couldn't see jessica in it. A person in this makes the interest more intense.. I agree with Alissa.. vertigo! I like how Jessica's face is just past the vertical rung in the railing and looking at you..

I really like the unsettled nature of this image. Almost vertigo inducing as one tries to puzzle out the angles. Clearly the figure is standing, so up and down are clear...but when one tries to puzzle out the rest...ouch! The frame that looks like it's a doorway can't be that...it's inconsistent with the vertical of the figure...it can't be an opening in the floor the angle is wrong... Maybe the "dots" are indicative of some sort of distorting reflection? Just the sort of photo I like--one that makes me think! Thanks for posting it.
