This is the view from the third-floor newsroom at the Ann Arbor News about 2 p.m. today as a major
thunderstorm rolled through Michigan. We had just heard that a funnel cloud had been spotted in Chelsa,
which is west of Ann Arbor, when the skies outside turned an eerie green. We were all ordered down into the
basement, but I took these shots through the window (you can see some of the reflection of the newsroom on the
window, especially at the right). Minutes later we were hit by hail and then a torrential downpour, but no
tornado. The tall building to the left is city hall.
