We ventured back this weekend for a quick two-day trip to St. Joseph, my old hometown for
18 years, where I started off as a cub reporter and eventually became managing editor of the
newspaper there. Oh what a wonderful place to live. Beautiful town overlooking Lake Michigan,
right across the lake from Chicago (a 90-mile trip by car). I had a lot of wonderful times there.
That's where my daughter was born and where she spent the first 12 years of her life. My career
forced us to leave, but I sure would have been content to stay there forever.
