For lunch Saturday, we went to a fresh food cafeteria. On the way out, Grandma saw this pretty display of succulents on the wall, while Grandpa saw a project in his future.

We went to the big REI sale and Devon and Grandma tested the camp tent.

Grandma liked this colorful plant growing in the field across the street.

Devon, Zeke and Grandpa tested their new binoculars.

And they all spied a photographer.

On a walk down the hill, Devon found a wildflower she liked.

And Grandma found some she liked too.

Grandpa and Zeke hiked down the sidewalk.

Grandma took Zeke and Devon on a longer hike up the hill.

Back inside the house, Grandma took a ride on one of the kids indoor vehicles.

She seemed to be having a good time.

She raced Zeke through the house. Was she winning or did he lap her?

Whoa!

Ta-da, she did it!

She rewarded herself with an orange.

On Sunday afternoon, we all went to the beach.

Dad brought a kite.

Mom and Dad and Zeke on the beach.

Meanwhile, Zeke relaxed in a hole he dug in the sand.

That tide better be going out.

On Monday, we went to the San Diego Zoo and one of the first things we saw was these two women walking a cheetah through the park. They explained that each cheetah has a dog as a companion.

Next we found the giraffes.

There were several giraffes of different sizes.

Dad held Zeke so he could get a better view.

Meanwhile, Grandma and Devon walk slowly down the lane.

And they find a big bird to ride.

Then on to more giraffes.

Hello, there!

Zeke and Devon got good looks at the zebras too.

What? We're looking at zebras here!

Grandma and Grandpa had seen some of these big pink birds in Cuba.

They are flamingos.

There were also some interesting flowering plants at the zoo.

These don't grow in Oklahoma.

We stopped by the koala exhibit, but everyone was taking a nap.

The big elephant was playing with the hanging ball.

Grandpa and Zeke found some elephants they could get closer to.

Really close.

These deer-like creatures looked like statues, they sat so still.

Devon and Zeke went for a short helicopter ride.

Then it was time for a little rest in the Bob.

Dad got his exercise pushing them up and down hills in the park.

We all waited in line and got to see the young panda eating bamboo.

The panda was not shy.

He posed for everyone while they took pictures of him.

He was happy to sit and eat bamboo while we watched.

After a rest in the Bob, and some lunch, Devon was ready for some climbing.

Zeke joined in the fun.

Then they found a resting hippo to climb on.

And to strike a pose on.

Before we left the zoo, Dad, Devon and Zeke posed for a picture with a lion.

Maybe Daddy lion was distracted by his little cub pulling his tail.

Before we left, Grandma found some more hanging sedums like the ones at the restaurant a few days earlier.
